To provide education on effective coping strategies, address issues regarding sexuality and offer medication management when indicated for patients facing life stressors in a supportive setting.

As a Psychiatric ARNP I work with a patient population to find their own answers also providing insights and education regarding medication management and my experience as an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist to encourage individuals to work through emotional barriers preventing a life of sexual and emotional fulfillment.

I do not push the idea of medications on patients but certainly encourage and prescribe medication when I perceive it is needed. I will emphasize the need for effective coping strategies and offer education regarding cognitive distortions, using dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) skills, principles of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and offer accurate, relevant education regarding sexuality when deemed appropriate to help patients use skills that can enhance their life.

As an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist I can address issues and questions regarding sexuality in its many diverse forms. I work with individuals and couples facing decreased libido, arousal difficulties, orgasmic difficulties and/or erectile dysfunction. I explore ways to integrate sexuality with faith when dealing with religious conflicts that are creating shame with sexual expression. This may include looking at past and present sexual behaviors and looking back at what clients were taught regarding sexuality within their own family and culture both pro and con.

I work with individuals who have been survivors of sexual abuse to help them move forward to living a life of sexual fulfillment. I can address feelings of shame regarding sexuality and body image. In addition, I work with men who feel they are struggling with out of control sexual behavior who believe there is an addictive or compulsive component that is affecting their relationship or quality of life. In addressing concerns regarding sexuality I work with singles, couples, heterosexuals, homosexuals, bisexuals, transgendered individuals and anyone in between.
